Margot & Terry

A brief bio written by the Bride and Groom by one another

The Groom: Terry McClowry (written by the bride)

Terry was born and raised in Dearborn Michigan  to Carol & Terry McClowry. Soon after Terry arrived he was gifeted with brother Matt, sister Meghan and sister Mallory. Terry was always an active child and eager to get into sports, walking before he was 9 month old. Ter’s grandfather even use to call him “Tuffy McNut”! Terry was the star player on the high school football team and was scouted by many big wig schools. Ter played a season of post grad at Milford Academy in Connecticut where he lived with his fathers twin Uncle Pat, Aunt Donna and cousin Christopher. It was during his time in CT that Coach Edsall from UCONN personally recruited Terry and offered him a full scholarship to play on his team. Terry joined the Huskies and played 4 seasons for Edsall helping to turn the UCONN football program into a Big East team. Ter Graduated early from UCONN, without actually realizing,(long story…) but returned to campus to party and graduate with his friends.

After college Terry took a job with Cintas and worked his tail off for a few years. He moved to Hamden and lived with his buddies in the Avalon Apartments, where I was living while I was at Quinnipiac. Ter also frequented Side Street, a dive bar that I worked at for a bit in college. I’m pretty sure I waited on him and the guys but things we are bit hazy back then. On the same week that Terry met his bride to be he was offered a job with OR Specialties, a medical device company. Since taking the job Terry has been the Rep Of The Year 3 times, winning trips, an awesome watch and the flights for our honeymoon paid for!

Terry is an amazing son and brother. The love he has for his siblings is unlike anything I have ever seen. Although it has been difficult for him to be away from his family Terry is always talking to his siblings and staying involved in their lives. Two years ago Terry and the family had the shock of their lives when their father passed away rather suddenly. The love and strength that came from the family during such a tragic time was beautiful, honest and raw. I fell more in love with the McClowry’s during this time seeing how hard they worked to grow from the challenge and to follow their fathers motto “attitude is everything”.

In his spare time, Terry likes to hang out with his friends and have a few cold ones. Terry Loves his softball and plays anywhere from 2-3 times a week during the on season, and yes he’s one of the best players on the team. Terry is Batman. He may be upset that I disclosed his identity, but if you didn’t already know, he really is… I mean he’s my hero for sure

I am in love with Terry McClowry because he is the most loyal and hard working man I know. He is not just hard working at his job but at his life. He is always working to keep up with my crazy spiritual growth/journey and I know that that can not be easy, and for this I am forever grateful and in awe of his growth as well. Ter has been the rock in my life and the inspiration of my business. It is because of him that I opened Breathing Room and that I can live out my dreams through my service and work. Terry is my level and my heart. He is the smile on my face and the constant reminder that attitude is everything. This is Terry, my main squeeze, my love, and my future husband.

The Bride: Margot Broom (written by the groom)

Margot was born and raised in the small country town of Lyme CT to Skip and Lorre Broom and her older sister Adrien. Though she was born in a small town, Margot got around when it came to schooling, she first attended The Country School in Madison Ct for her elementary years. Margot then went off to Cushing Academy in Ashburnham MA. for her high school education. Upon graduating high school she was off to Boston’s Suffolk University for a year stay, before returning to CT to complete her schooling at Qunnipiac University.

But enough with all that schooling… Margot spent most of her summers on Fishers Island NY, a small island off the coast of CT. Fishers is where Margot made some of her best lifelong friends, developed her passion for nature and the ocean and It is also where she took her very first yoga class from her friend Charlotte’s mother, unknowingly changing the path of her life forever.

Though we lived in the same apartment complex, and we frequented the same places, our paths crossed but never connected. It was probably for the best, I was a crazy bachelor and let’s just say Margot was dazed and confused.

Margot comes from a family of artists, Skip is a builder, Lorre a curator, Adrien a photographer and Jerry a painter. So the logical step after school was to take a little of all that and become an interior designer at an architecture firm.  This is right around the time where we met…

It was St. Patricks Day in New Haven, I saw her from across the Bar with a big green hat on. Being Irish with the middle name Patrick, I figured it must be my lucky day! Miraculously, I convinced her to give me her number. I called Margot the next day, and soon fell in love with her and her beautiful white dog Bird. We have been together ever since.

About 5 years ago, Margot was laid off from her interior deco job, but Margot had been teaching yoga on the side, and with a little nudge, I urged Margot to open her own studio… and Breathing Room was born. Margot discovered her true calling and art. Margot now operates the most successful and beloved yoga studio in New Haven, and is helping guide people to more healthy, soulful and loving lives.

I love Margot for millions of reasons. Aside from being the most beautiful person i have ever laid eyes on, her inner beauty outshines the physical. She improves the lives of everyone she comes in contact with, and I am no exception.

Ive experienced countless firsts because of Margot. I ate sushi for the first time on our first date, because i was afraid to look like a wimp. I love it now. She has opened my mind to so much, but what I admire the most is her endless desire to improve herself. Margot isn’t afraid to step out of her comfort zone. She wants to be a better person, she reads, seeks counseling, training and education. Margot pushes me to do the same and I am a happier, healthier and more successful person because of her.

Margot has walked with me through the best times in my life, and has been right there through the hardest time of my life. Margot is my breathing room. I love Margot more than words can express, she has brought  immeasurable value and happiness to my life. No matter where we go, I always feel like the luckiest man in the room.

That Is Margot. my light, my love and very soon…my wife!
